Jerrod Rushton, Owner
Middlebury Fitness is a community health and wellness center that puts members’ needs first.
Our goal is to ensure that each member achieves their personal fitness goals while experiencing exceptional customer service in a supportive atmosphere, full of fun and camaraderie.
Founded in 1997, Midd Fit features a wide variety of the most current strength and cardio equipment by the leading brands in the industry. Our program and group fitness class schedules are designed to meet the growing and ever-changing needs of all our members, who range in age from 13 to 93.
We understand that you have options when it comes to your health and fitness needs, and therefore we challenge ourselves to meet and exceed your expectations every single day. We employ the most attentive, caring, professional, and knowledgeable instructors, personal trainers, and staff you will find anywhere.
Kate Ripley
Member Services
Kate joined the team in May of 2019 after being a member for several years. She is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Body Pump Instructor and holds a Degree in Business from Castleton State University. Kate has a real passion for health and fitness, a super friendly personality and enjoys interacting with members.
Tamara Chase
Program Director Certified Body Pump®, Spinning and Raisedbarre® Instructor
Tamara is an attorney and fitness instructor who has been leading group fitness in our community since 1984. Tamara currently instructs Spinning® , Body Pump® and Raisedbarre®. Tamara graduated from the University of Vermont and Northeastern University School of Law and takes great pleasure in sharing her love of fitness with all the wonderful people she has the pleasure of teaching.
Janice Rushton
Member Services / Group Fitness
Janice graduated in 1998 from the University of Maine- Presque Isle with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. In 2008 she became a Spinning Instructor and obtained a certificate in Swedish massage. Currently she teaches Spinning at Midd Fit and enjoys running, nordic skiing, photography and spending quality time with her husband Jerrod and their two beautiful daughters.
Taylor Moulton
Member Services
Taylor is a recent graduate of the UVM Grossman School of Business with a degree in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Taylor likes to go on outdoor runs, hike, swim (recreationally, she is not the strongest swimmer) and ski. She is excited to start her career in marketing and to hopefully begin traveling.
Jocelyn Deering
Assistant Manager
Certified Personal Trainer (NASM)
Born and raised in Vermont, Jocelyn designs systematic & progressive exercise programs while providing outstanding customer service. Outside of her full time work at Midd Fit Jocelyn enjoys building muscle, spending her mornings at the local coffee shops, sipping on iced chai lattes.
Karina Tarte
Member Services
Karina was born and raised in Vermont. She currently works full-time as a Veterinary Technician at a local animal hospital. When not working at the hospital or here at Midd Fit you will often find Karina working out in the gym!
Camille Maglienti
Certified Yoga Instructor
Camille is a Middlebury local, UVM student, and 200 hour certified Hatha yoga instructor. She enjoys teaching and practicing gentle yoga flows, with an emphasis on the idea that yoga is for every body. In Camille's classes, you can expect a relaxing space to be mindful and move in a kind way. In her spare time, you can find Camille baking or reading in her hammock.
Robin Mathiesen
Group Fitness Instructor, Certified Yoga Instructor
Robin is a Certified 500 hour Kripalu Yoga Instructor with a specialty in Ayurveda. Robin began her Yoga journey in 1971 at the age of 16 at the Integral Yoga Institute in NYC. Fast forward to 2012 where she completed her 500 hr YTT followed by extensive studies in Yoga’s sister science, Ayurveda. She has been a certified massage therapist for 27 years with no thought of retiring. Robin sees each individual as perfect and whole and is dedicated to helping people heal, grow and awaken with mind-body practices. Show up as you are for movement, mobility, breath work and cultivating stillness.
Her story was featured in the book, Designing & Leading Life-Changing Workshops: Creating the Conditions for Transformation by Ken Nelson (Nov. 2020)
When not on the mat you can find Robin working out in the gym or outside with her husband and 2 Doodles in Bridport.
Janet Morrison
Group Fitness Instructor
Janet has been a Certified Spin instructor at Middlebury Fitness since 2002. After a career-related hiatus from the gym, she is thrilled to be back in the saddle again! She's also a Raised Barre and Body Pump enthusiast. Hiking, running, and boating on Lake Champlain, spending time with her adult children and partner Al, and traveling to her native Nova Scotia rounds out her spare time.
Jeanette Brush
Group Fitness Instructor
Certified Body Pump®, Certified PiYO®
Jeanette teaches Cardio Dance and Body Pump at Middlebury Fitness and takes great pride in encouraging members to maintain healthy, active lifestyles in a fun and energetic environment. Jeanette lives on Lake Dunmore and enjoys cycling and numerous other outdoor activities.
Lily Hunt
Group Fitness Instructor
Certified Raisedbarre® Instructor
Lily grew up in Middlebury and graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2005. After college Lily lived in San Francisco for 9 years where she became an avid fan of bar fitness classes and practiced The Bar Method for 6 years. Lily returned to Vermont to raise her children in her hometown. She teaches Raisedbarre®, works for Middlebury College and when she is not working or teaching Barre she enjoys running, hiking and spending time with her family.
Lynne Peck
Group Fitness Instructor
Lynne has been a group fitness instructor at Middlebury Fitness since inception in 1997. She teaches Spinning, Step and Strength classes and enjoys a variety of activities including water skiing, hiking and biking.
Gail Isenberg
Group Fitness Instructor
Gail has been a fitness instructor at Middlebury Fitness for 10 years. She currently leads a Senior Fitness class. Gail has a BS in music education, MS in counseling and a Ph.D. in psychology. Interests include aviation, women's barbershop, learning Chinese, theater, biking and running. A mother of two adult sons, Gail just completed her first half-marathon
Ian Ekroos
Certified Personal Trainer
Ian is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer (National Academy of Sports Medicine). Ian designs programs to help clients of abilities reach their fitness goals, whether it’s building muscle, increasing strength, or improving overall health. Outside of work he enjoys lifting weights, playing pickleball, hiking and fishing.
Adam English
Certified Personal Trainer
Certified Yoga Instructor
Adam is an ACE-CPT and Yoga Vermont certified yoga instructor with experience and expertise in post rehabilitative training, yoga, calisthenics, weight lifting, and nutrition. With over five years experience personal training, he blends a mixture of different training styles and methods to safely and effectively accomplish fitness goals. Whether it is to tone up, build strength, increase flexibility, or to get back to exercise after injury rehab, Adam has you covered!
Kristen Ginsburg
Certified Personal Trainer
Group Fitness Instructor
Kristen holds a M.A. in Education, B.S. in Psychology and is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer. After a thorough assessment, Kristen offers a personalized and holistic program to help her clients achieve their fitness goals. Tyler Buxton

Tyler is currently a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in History at Castleton University. Tyler is a starter on the Spartans football team. On breaks and in the summer you’ll see Tyler behind the front desk. In his spare time Tyler enjoys lifting weights, basketball and spending time with his family.
